You are presenting two sides of a math equation, in essence, that was DESIGNED to balance! THAT'S why the two calculated forces agree. Newton had no other explanation for why the planets continued in their orbits save for what he termed centrifugal force, so he made this EQUAL to the force of gravity. In his day the ability to take precise measurements was not possible. In Newton's day even the vacuum was unavailable, so an experiment in a tall column with all possible air removed was not possible. He could not discover, as discover he would have, that in a vacuum a centered object spinning around a heavier object in the center DOES NOT retain a centrifugal force that continues unabated. It STOPS. In Newton's day such an arrangement was assumed to be influenced by the friction of air.
